the dumps

today's been a "blah" day. Don't get me wrong, it had some great parts, but hen the ret was just, well, blah.

Plus I feel like I've been angry lately. And I don't really have a place to vent it, let alone know what's making me angry. I did pretty well on my last wave of tests, and who knows maybe it's just those pre-final blues. cuz that means I'll be going back to my mom's for a chock-filled 3 months. I can barely stand weekends now, let alone 3 whole months.

Things I REALLY have to do over the summer, or else I'll go stir crazy:

get my license
go to summer school
job?
get a girlfriend

roughly in that order

the ethics of rock n roll

hmm, it looks like I won't get paid for my services until AFTER finals! This causes a dilemma. Do I just buy Guitar hero now and put the money into my account later, or wait? But if I wait, then my roommates may never get the privilige of rocking out on an almost full size guitar! But they are making a sequel! Should I wait until the next one comes out, or what? It's 80 freakin bucks!

first day on the job

subtitle: YIKES!!!!!

So, yeah, now I'm a working man. It wasn't too bad. basically they just had me passing out fliers, spreading the word, etc for about 4 hours.

Saw a lot of people I recognized. Like Alice. That was cool. And a couple other UHS people (at least 3 from the '04 class). And some people from here at the U. I was surprised how chipper I was the whoe time. Smiling, saying have a nice day. Plus I get 7 bucks an hour for smiling and getting 5 rejections per flier I pass out? Cool!

But now reality seeps in. I mapquest estimated (mapquestimated? have I just made up a new word?) my day's journey and, including class this morning, I must've walked like 5 and a half miles! No wonder my legs hurt. And I wasn't thinking ahead about sunscreen lotion at all, so I'm a tad scorched, at least on my arms. They're not red-red, though they do smell a little leathery. And I haven't lookred at my back or neck yet, but hopefully they're not too bad. Fortunately not all my days will be passing out fliers. I get to do some cashiering, too. And maybe if I play my cards right this will become my summer job, seing as right now it's only a 2 week temp position.

Of course, do I really want a summer job? Won't I be moving this summer? (Not ooutta town, just a different zip code and very likely a different congressional district.) I'm still planning to take summer school.

And it looks like, yes, I will have enough for Guitar Hero. Oh, happy day!

jorb is a four letters word

Yay! I got a part time job at one of the local bookstores. I don't know what I'll be doing yet exacly, but I start Monday at noon. So after two weeks I might get like 60 bucks, with which I can finally buy Guitar Hero w/out he nagging guilt of abusing my scholarship money!

And the wave of pre-final tests are done. And I am pleased. My scores, in order, were like 92, 98, 96, 80, 97, and TBA. Considering that the average on the test I got an 80 on was like 49%, I am satisfied. Now if only the professor curved at all.

It's kinda hard to fathom that I've only got 3 weeks left here at the dorm. It's really become my home away from home, my home squared, and I'm gonna miss it. Plus I'm saddened by this deadline beause that means we have to clean up. Cuz, boy, is it a mess.

2 funerals and a wedding

Wowsers, as Inspector Gadget would say. Today's been quite a rush. 2 tests in the morning. A nice restful nap during diff eq, and then the much anticipated results of last week's curcuits test.

I'm seriously starting to question whether I should even have 5 classes next semester. After all, 3 of 'em have labs (2 2 hour and 1 3 hour) so that won't be fun. BUt it looks like there will be an opening in the econ class I wanted to take but couldn't sign up for since I'm not a declared econ minor. But then I'd have to reschedule my computer lab to Tuesdays (the already evil day), and in essence have 8 hours of class/travel with a 2 hour break for lunch and crying. Poo.

But let's begin with some good news. I got a freakin' 98% on my circuits test! I was stoked. That brings my average in the class to like an 83, which I figure is right on the border between A and B (where the teacher defines an A as "well above" the class average, so it's puffy. The average is like a 67, though the bulk of people have scores in the 70's, but enough stats.) So if I play my cards right on th final which counts for 50% of the whole grade I can pull out an A.

Linear and Statics, though, are different stories. In both of them I have like a 91 or 92, and the teachers do the ol' 90+ is A, 80-90 is B jazz. I had tests in both of them, and I have a bad feeling those averages are gonna go down a smidge. But that's what finals are for! Like my English last fall, I pulled out a 90.1% cuz of thelast essay, reminding me a lot of freshman year with Colville and how I was always in the 89's)

Aside from the typical stresses of college life (I can tell I'm stressed because my giveaway is I get a lot of zits), things are pretty sweet. My roommate dan's been messing around with his video cam. And I've beenwatching a lot more TV and listening to a lot more music. Granted, it's the mainstream stuff but that's Ok.

Panda bear not blue, just sleepy.

color safe bleach

Laundry sucks. I did a load of whites here at the dorm cause I was literally out of socks. Ugh, so boring. At least I took some homeowrk to do.

And we're in that phase of "we need to give you another test before the final because that's what the syllabus says." I had one last week and one the week before (though I got a 92% o it. YAY!), 1 on Thursday, and I think 3 next week (one from the same class I just had the 92% test in). Golly. No wonder I'm taking naps at 3 in the afternoon. And yet I still feel tired afterwards. Bugger.

But, all in all, if there were any roses to smell around here in the concrete jungle of my dorm, I betcha they'd smell pretty.

I love this song

I forgot how to read

So I'm going down the main halway for the student union, and at the record store they have all these posters of CD's and recent tours. I look at one and the name struck me odd.

(me pronouncing it)
mee-chay puh-rawd. Hmmm, sounds French.

Then I glance at it again, and it clearly says
Mice Parade

Why did I resort to a Latin-based ionterpretation first? I'm so confused.

then, inside, I see a sign for the poster store and it says:
we tink

hmm, do you tonk, as well, I thought. Again, I look back, and it clearly says
wet ink

what's going on????? Why am I not recognizing these combonations of letters that I've been accustomed to all my life?

maybe I'm just tired.

fall

Ok so for now this is my schedule for next fall:

Math 362- Intro to probability (code name: how to win in vegas)
Math 422- Advanced Applied Analysis (cn: AAA will make you join AA)
Phys 162H- Honors Intro to Thermodynamics and Optics (cn: honors smoke and mirrors)
C Sc 127a- Intro to Computer Science (cn: Java for dummies)
Mse 110- Solid State Chemistry (cn: the "easy" chem class)

I was hoping to get into an Econ class because I had sent an email to the SBS (the college it's under) director and he said al he needed was my Student ID# and all would be set. So I sent it. Then right before I was set to register, I get an email from him basically saying, "Oh. I dind't know you were an Engineering major and not SBS. You'd have to get this approved by your advisor (in 18 hours? I don't think s0). Otherwise, you can join if there are any openings after the 22nd." Just great. So I set up my schedule assuming i won't be able to get in. If I can, though, i'm gonna have to reschedule all my classes to accomodate for it (probably dropping the vegas class in the process). I've got my fingers crossed.
