10 random questions that I just made up

1. What was your fondest/favorite/most bizarre memory of fifth grade? One time I wrote an anonymous letter to my DARE officer, and he knew that I wrote it since I spelled anonymous correctly.

2. For any reason, has a music video made you cry? Yes, two of them. one involved a dying fish, the other a bucnh of balloons flying away.

3. Describe your favorite pair of pants. These penguin jammie pants that have various penguins in various nightware (robes, briefs, boxers)

4. What was the last thing you drank? 50% Diet Pepsi, 20% Mountain Dew, 20% Cherry Pesi, 10% Sierra Mist. Yum yum. I love MIx-n-Match fountain drinks. (The very best one I've made/discovered so far is simply Orange Fanta and regular Coke, or is it Diet Coke?)

5. Pick any geographic location that starts with a vowel and ends with a consonant. Avra Valley

6. Make one sentence using exactly forty-two letters. <- (hehe)

7. What time do you plan to get up on school days? 7 AM, roommates permitting.

8. If you've had that new Coke Zero, is it really THAT good? For fifty cents, yes. Full price, hell no.

9. How many gigs does your computer have? 6. Just 6.

10. In your opinion, what is the best song that has come out this year so far (not neccesarily your current favorite)? For now "Mr. Brightside" comes to mind.

Now, you guys answer them and THEN make up your own 10 random questions. make sure they are answerable and that you've answered them yourself. It will be the never ending survey!

not well enough

I think I could handle an online Psych class. But, no, apparently not. I know mom's worried about me "burning out" as a freshman at the UofA. but wasn't UHS basically a burnout immunity seminar? Maybe it's just that I'm so antsy and ready for school to get here (How sad is that?) The odds are I'm probably severely underestimating the behemoth that might be college, but after talking to one of my future roommates, I seriously think I could tackle it. Awhile ago I commented to myself that I've determined that I am NOT, in fact, indecisive, but rather that I just like learning and want to learn AMAP ASAP.

Though I did get an Office Depot application. So if anyone has any serious objections, may they speak now or forever hold their piece. Though OD admitted that they were looking mostly for tech people, at which point I laughed awkwardly and quietly left the building. Cuz scholarships and parents can't pay for everything. That, and buying a crapload of paper, art supplies, and folders for FOUR DOLLARS makes me very happy. NO, really, they have 10packs of markers for 40 cents, so I got two! YAY! (limit 5 or something)

But online Psych 101 has only 3 TESTS! That's it! NO homework! As long as I did fine on those I think I'd be ok. Though I am an honors student...so I'd need to keep the 3.5 or whatever it is GPA. Poo. If only I knew....

More stickily evil or evilly sticky?

GAH!

Got an email from the UofA. I now have my chem class 5 fucking times a week, and twice on Tuesdays! Plus I still have my Thursday night lab! *sob*

I knew taking Olstad's class was a waste of time, but Sophomore year was overall the best for me. That's when I was my smartest. So maybe not taking AP chem was a godsend, but now I've got 2 fucking semesters of swampy, fucking chemistry! If it wren't for chem, I could be a junior at the end of the spring. For an Engineering degree even!

Anybody still got their AP chem notes, or were they all quickly burned after the class was over? cuz I'm seriously thinking of taking the CLEP if they offer one. And I wanted to do AP chem indy study last year, but mom said "NOOooooooo."

To quote Elise because it sounds so good right now:

fuckity fuck fuck

Though the UofA did send me my room assignment, so that was cool. And all my roommates are from the southwest, so that's kinda cool. I sent them an email earlier today, and I'm sure it sounded stupid, but so does anything when you're typing to basically three complete strangers.

I need to get out of here.

a step back?

I woke up really early this morning, around 6:50. Mom was getting ready to take Nana for a blood sample or something, and I was still really sleepy so I didn't go with them. So naturally I do the next best thing any half asleep teenager would do: I turned on the TV and started to watch music videos. I flipped through my regular cache of channels, though some of them were still in infomercial mode, but after a while I resorted to the classic antics of MTV airing actual music videos only when nobody's really watching.

Long story short, I saw the newest, and possibly last, Destiny's Child video "Cater 2 U" and at 7:30 in the morning it seemed like I was back in the 1950's or something. Well, of course they were strutting their stuff, which was satisfying, but the lyrics seemed very un-Destiny's Childlike, cuz the rest of the time they've been "Independant Women," and ready to stick up for each other. It sure seems like a step back for women's lib as far as I can tell, especially the 2nd verse.

"Cater 2 U"

[Verse 1 Beyonce]

Let Me Feed You
Let Me Run Your Bathwater

Want A Foot Rub? (Yeah)
You Want A Manicure?
Baby I'm Yours I Want To Cater To You Boy

[Chorus]
Let Me Cater To You
Cause Baby This Is Your Day
Do Anything For My Man
Baby You Blow Me Away
I Got Your Slippers, Your Dinner, Your Dessert, And So Much More
Anything You Want Just Let Me Cater To You

Can't Nothing Tear Us Apart
You're All That I Want In A Man;
I Put My Life In Your Hands
I Got Your Slippers, Your Dinner, Your Dessert, And So Much More
Anything You Want, I Want To Cater To You

[Verse 2 Kelly]

Boy Is There Something You Need Me To Do (Oh)
If You Want It (I Got It)
Say The Word (I Will Try It)
I Know Whatever I'm Not Fulfilling (Oh)
Another Woman Is Willing (Oh)
I'm Going To Fulfill Your Mind, Body, And Spirit

I Promise You (Promise You)
I'll Keep Myself Up (Oh)
Remain The Same Chick (Yeah)
You Fell In Love With (Yeah)
I'll Keep It Tight, I'll Keep My Figure Right
I'll Keep My Hair Fixed, Keep Rocking The Hottest Outfits
When You Come Home Late Tap Me On My Shoulder, I'll Roll Over

If It's Love You Need, To Give It Is My Joy
All I Want To Do, Is Cater To You Boy

I Want To Cater To My Man
Your Heart (Your Heart)

The Darkness We'll Get Through (So Much)
So Much Of Me Is You (Is You)
I Want To Cater To My Man

[Chorus Out]

THE PEE-EL-EH-EN

This is THE unofficially official rundown:

Get a Masters in Mech Eng
As I'm finishing the masters, finish with my BS in Math (Probaility/Statistics), so I'm not going for both at full speed.
As I'm finishing the BS in Mech Eng, finish minor in Psychology.
Get Spanish minor over summers

For now Econ, Phsyics, and Atronomy are under the blanket. But, as with the rest of my life, is still subject to change.

APPRX timespan: 5-6 years

Starting.... NOW!

blissed and pissed

Well, I got my Ap scores through the mail today, and Zach wasn't lying. I got 5's in both Econs, Physics Mechanics, Spanish and Stats, and 4's in US Gov and Phys C E&M. So I'm happy.

But my previous scores are nowhere to be found, which can be a problem. The UofA does have my scores from last year, but its bothersome that the AP couldn't find me and my past scores. So now I've gotta rummage through my (notably smaller) collection of UHS papers and scrounge up my AP number from last year. I remember jotting on it like a week or two ago. Now if I only knew where I put it...

And now, another picture ofour new kitty friend. We're still not 100% sure she is in fact homeless cuz she comes and goes at random times of the day, but she does like to sleep underneath my nana's palm tree. Anyway, she definitely is cute.

shucks

It's bad when I'm badmouthing gen ed classes given the fact that I haven't even taken one yet!

But according to my facebook I have mech Eng and Math listed as my concentrations. And I s'pose that's cool, but I've been thinking about what would be the consequences of double majoring in Mech and Math. For the most part, it seems pretty harmless. However, I realized that the two majors have different gen ed requirements. For just a Mech Eng major, I'd need only 1 class to satisfy both the arts and the humanities branch. But in the math major I need one art and one humanity, separately. Poo. BUt regardless I think I'll take English 209 in the Spring cuz it meets the arts requirement. I know I've badmouthed English in the past, and how I was so excited that all I would need was one more semester of English for the rest of my life. But, what can I say, I lied.

ENGL 209 -- Introduction to the Writing of Poetry (3 units)
Description: Beginning techniques of poetry writing, taught through exercises, the writing of original poetry, and readings in contemporary poetry.
Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E.
Prerequisite(s): completion of freshman composition sequences.
Approved as: General Education Tier Two - Arts.
Usually offered: Fall, Spring.

So in order to not need to take ANY more gen ed classes after ENGL 209, I either need to just get a Mech Eng major or switch to Engineering Mathematics. BUt a degree is different from a jorb, and frankly that's what worries me the most.

Poo.

Speaking of cute kitties...

Hey, we found this one, or rather she found us like a week ago and she frankly doesn't want to leave. We admit, she is cute, but we don't really have the resources nor the willpower to take in this kitty. Can you help????

2 things

First of all, I decided to initialize the dream blog I was yapping about a while ago. nobedbugs.blogspot.com Now, it's hard to say if there's really a demand for this, but according to Say's Law, which is reminiscent of The classic baseball movie Field of Dreams "If you supply it, they will demand it" or is it the other way around? Whatever.

Also, I'm so adventurous with my scheduling. I dropped my TRAD 102 class for a.... guess... TRAD 101 class! Plus I've realized that I'm doomed to take at least one more gen ed class after this one because APUSH offers credit for tier one OR tier two humanities, but not both! Crappola. But at least my class is an honors class. That's cool.

7.01.2005

Still have a little time to figure out this whole college thing

On one hand, it's cool that my mom works in Human Reources. After all, she can tell what kind of person you are based on your careers and histories. On the other hand, it sucks that my mom works in Human Resources. After all, she can tell what kind of person you are based in your careers and histories.

So with my AP scores now a reality, I have to review my choices at a degree, again. Now, I like my current idea (The BS in Mech ENG and the quad minors in Span, Psych, Econ, and Math) but MOm says that she sees that as me being an indecisive person. For that I have only two words: Well, DUH! So she's all lecturing me on how my resume can't look like a hobby list. And, to an extent, I understand. But I really like my idea, and since my AP dreams came true, it is theoretically doable. SO I've been looking through the catalogs again, and I found a couple alternatives that don't mess up my schedule too much too much.

Option 1: The original
Major(s): BS in Mech Eng
Minor(s): Spanish, Math, Psych, Econ

Option2: The most professional looking one
Major(s): BS in Mech Eng and BS in Math (Prob/Stats)
Minor(s): Spanish

Option3: A somewhat compromise between #1 and #2
Major(s): BS in Engineering Mathematics (with an emphasis on Mech Eng)
Minor(s): Spanish, Econ, Psych

Option4: The nerdy one
Major(s): BS in Mech Eng and BS in AEro Eng
Minor(s): Math

Option5: The turnaround
Major(s): BS in Math (Econ/Finance)
Minor(s): Econ, Mech Eng

But that's just the beginning. In a way, it'd be nice if college was a little more like UHS. More manadted classes, but you have some flexibility to work with if you're lucky. I just don't like the whole you-decide what major and classes stuff. Cuz I'm an indecisive person.
