first day on the job
subtitle: YIKES!!!!!
So, yeah, now I'm a working man. It wasn't too bad. basically they just had me passing out fliers, spreading the word, etc for about 4 hours.
Saw a lot of people I recognized. Like Alice. That was cool. And a couple other UHS people (at least 3 from the '04 class). And some people from here at the U. I was surprised how chipper I was the whoe time. Smiling, saying have a nice day. Plus I get 7 bucks an hour for smiling and getting 5 rejections per flier I pass out? Cool!
But now reality seeps in. I mapquest estimated (mapquestimated? have I just made up a new word?) my day's journey and, including class this morning, I must've walked like 5 and a half miles! No wonder my legs hurt. And I wasn't thinking ahead about sunscreen lotion at all, so I'm a tad scorched, at least on my arms. They're not red-red, though they do smell a little leathery. And I haven't lookred at my back or neck yet, but hopefully they're not too bad. Fortunately not all my days will be passing out fliers. I get to do some cashiering, too. And maybe if I play my cards right this will become my summer job, seing as right now it's only a 2 week temp position.
Of course, do I really want a summer job? Won't I be moving this summer? (Not ooutta town, just a different zip code and very likely a different congressional district.) I'm still planning to take summer school.
And it looks like, yes, I will have enough for Guitar Hero. Oh, happy day!
