Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs, pt 2
Dang, it's already been a week. I should probably put these up then.
Day 2:
Even though my butt muscles were still quite sore from the previous night's excursion, we decided that we should walk up to the Space Needle this time. It was about a mile uphill. Not fun. But we got up there in one piece. We spotted a lot of local stores and stuff along the way. We must've seen 3 or 4 news stations. Also, it turns out that the building the Univision news is in is the building that they show on "Grey's Anatomy"- apparently it takes place in Seattle.
So we got up to the Space Needle in time for our lunch reservation. This enabled us to get a FREE ride up the space needle, which normally costs like 15 bucks a person. There is a catch, though. There is a 25 dollar minimum per person from the restaurant. It just so happens that a cheeseburger costs twenty-five dollars! What are the odds? Yeah all the menu prices were buku expensive, so Tony and I decided to just have the burgers. And they were actually really good.
Of course, the reason people go up to the Space Needle restaurant is not for the food. It's for the view. The entire seating area rotates on a series of bearings, enabling diners to get a 360 view of the city over the course of 47 minutes. They say the motor to turn the whole thing only runs on like 1.5 hp, or like 1 kW. That's pretty cool, I think. This was our view one time during the course of our meal.

We then went up to the rest of the people and looked out from the viewing stations. It's a pretty awesome building. Definitely reminds me of the Jetsons.
We then went next door to check out the Experience Music Project and the Science Fiction Museum. I loved the EMP- I almost cried when I saw a Fender Broadcaster (The original Stratocaster). They also had a lot of memorabilia and instruments from different people. They had broken pieces of Jimmy Hendrix guitars, as well as a huge interactive room so people can play with all phases of the music industry, from playing and recording, to editing and mixing. It was a lot of fun. I totally enjoyed it.
The Science Fiction Museum was right next door. They also had a bunch of cool stuff. I'm pretty sure my cousin enjoyed the SFM as much as I enjoyed the EMP. It had a lot of cool stuff. Lots of props from shows, robots from movies, original fiction books, and a few interactive things, as well. Oddly, there was a Jim Henson exhibit at the SFM. I know he did some funky stuff with the muppets (after all, wasn't the guy who did Yoda the same guy who did Fozzy Bear?) but they focused a lot on the youth aspect- Sesame street, Fraggle Rock, etc. They had a totally sweet Kurt Cobain muppet that people could try on and play with. It was a hoot. Too bad they didn't let us take any photos.
We also found Slush Puppies! For those not in the know, that is like our version of ICEE. They used to sell it at the corner store a couple blocks from our house when we lived in Douglas. I always liked the grape best, but the cherry one is always good, too.
The last major thing we did was take a tour with a group called Ride The Ducks. It's basically a one-hour tour in a multifunction boat/car that covers some of the awesome stuff to do in Seattle. Apparently the vehicles are the same ones (with the same motors?) that they used to invade Normandy on, coincidentally, 6/6/1944. We went driving by the football and baseball stadiums, sang some silly songs in the downtown district (our tour guy was a hoot!) and then went for a swim on top of Lake Union in Seattle. We just drove right on into the lake. It was freaky cool. This is a picture I took with my phone while on the lake.

We got back to shore, had some tacos at Tacos Del Mar, basically their version of Rubio's, and headed back to the hotel. We stopped along the piers and found a little articficial beach. It was nice. We caught some of Leno's last Tonight Show, as well as some of the movie "The Weather Man" with Nicholas Cage. Weird movie. But we were exhausted and knew we had a full day ahead of us for Saturday, so I'll leave it at that.
Coming next, Saturday and Sunday, since nothing interesting happened that Sunday.
