flashbacks

You know wehn you think of one song and how it makes you think of another song, but you normally wouldn't even think of that other song at all except through the tangent of the first song? Well that's what happened yesterday. SO I was with Mom in the car and on 92.9 they played this song by NEw Radicals called "You Get What you Give." I've liked that song since it came out in like 6th grade for me. Of course, that was also when I was in my mainstream pop music phase, and also when I noted that I was my most uneasiest (if that's a word). Coincidence? Anyway, it reminded me of this other song that I liked at the same time, and hadn't even thought about for at least a few years. I found the song "Got You (where I Want YOu)" by The Flys just a while ago online, and now I'm wondering why I liked it so much. I mean, it was alright and kinda childish lyrically, but I think it was just the perceived artisticness of the video that had me mesmerized back then. Now, it's ok, and I wouldn't mind listening to it, but I think its just kinda funny how our perceptions of the past are brighter and better than they necessarily were. Take UHS, for example. Now we're at the point where we can appreciate all the effort that we went thorugh for our own rewards and how it's made us better people. Back then, though, we're just like this sucks, I hate it, maybe I should transfer to Rincon, no more freaking notes etc. I think that's weird and cool at the same time, so maybe a Psych minor wouldn't be a bad thing. Mom jokes about Psychology students in general that they;re only taking classes to understand other people so they can understand themselves. And frankly, she's got a point.

On an enturely different matter, have any of you heard of the group Seether? Is it just me, or does the lead singer seem very Cobain-esque? I mean, he kinda looks like Cobain a bit, but I think it's more in the intonations in his voice. Anyway, check out their single "Remedy" cuz its pretty good.
