Moving
So this past week I've been in the process of moving and unloading and unpacking my stuff into my cousin's house in Oro Valley (though, technically, it's his mom's house, and she lives with him, and my mom is moving in, too, but saying I'm moving in with my cousin sounds a lot cooler than I'm moving in with my mom and my aunt.) It's been pretty painless, but it has become blatantly apparent that I am a huge packrat who refuses to throw anything away. My room is already filled to the gills, I still have 5 boxes of stuff to unload, and I still have a bunch of knick-knacks and miscellaneous crap still at the old apartment. We haven't even gone through the kitchen or that closet in the hallway. Ugh. This is gonna be a long holiday.
Grade-wise things are going better than expected. I was totally not anticipating an A in my solid mechanics class. Maybe I just kicked butt on the final, I don't know. My guess is that he lowered his rubric for grading so more than 3 people would get an A in that class of 125. I'm still waiting on my fluids class, that evil, vile, malicious, devious, meanie of a class, and my seminar class SHOULD be an A after all, but that has yet to been processed (I emailed the prof, and the mistake was on his part).
But I have found time to be human. Went with Patrick and his friend Ben to hang out for a bit, get a bite to eat. When we get this place all cleaned up and pretty I'll throw some kind of happy fun time before school starts hopefully. We have a pool table, a big screen for movies/games, a TV room with lots of free crap on the digital cable (even karaoke!) and a pool for any polar bears willing to brave the chill of the air.
The neighborhood is nice, but way too quiet. All the houses look almost identical. This group of houses looks exactly like the group across the street. It's pretty bland. But the thing I love the most is gonna have to be the area. You go outside your house, look at the night sky without the halo from Tucson, you hear a couple coyotes howling from miles away, and you think yeah, life is good, if only for a short while.

hey mitchy! just wanted to let you know someone how there is/has been reading all your blogs! it's been a kind of crazy few weeks, as you know... and shit happens in life (i.e. death) so i've been a little out of contact with the world and antisocial. no worries, it's all under control and i'm doing just fine... but life in general has prevented me from commenting because something always seems to happen. i was going to call you today, but for some ODD reason... because i've basically talked to no one since break started... nearly everyone decided to call me today so i've been tied up all night. how weird is that?! it's like nothing for a long time... then suddenly everything at once. funny how that is an exact parallel to most aspects of my life... it's like rain in tucson: it's usually sunny days, clear skies... but when it rains, it POURS. haha. life is odd and crazy.
anyhow... GREAT job with that work load and your grades!!! that's freaking awesome, mitchy! =) i somehow pulled off my semester and did alright too, which is always good. but yeah, your new place sounds pretty sweet... esp. the pool table part. i'll have to confess, i'm really awful at pool, although awesome at setting up shots for the person after me... perhaps i'm one of those people that gets better at pool after a beer or two. idk. never tried playing pool tipsy yet. (yet!)
haha. hope you're enjoying your break, and hope to talk to you soon =)

Mitch! I think I'm going to be on Mt. Bigelow operating the telescope during your party..... :(
Congrats on your awesome grade! I got A's in everything but Linear Algebra, but honestly I deserved that B. That killed my Math 4.0, but that's okay, I'm a physicist after all! :P At least my other major GPAs went up.
I'm glad your colloquium thing got worked out too, I was wondering about that.
Anyway, have a Merry Christmas tomorrow/today!
